Deadline for submitting legislation:
March 15, 2024

For the purposes of the Great Plains Annual Conference session, a resolution asks the Annual Conference to take a stand on a particular issue or to direct a body within the conference to consider a specific action. A petition is passed on for consideration at the next General Conference session.

Resolutions and petitions for consideration by the conference must originate from an individual or entity within the Great Plains Annual Conference. These may include, but are not limited to, congregations, groups within a congregation; individuals (both lay and clergy); district organizations; or conference boards and committees.

Any action item to be considered by the conference must be presented as legislation. Action items referenced in committee reports will not be acted upon unless properly submitted as legislation before the conference.

The deadline has passed for proposed legislation to be included in the conference Workbook.

Any items at this point shall be prepared according to the published formatting guidelines and provided to the conference secretary for distribution to conference members. When the Annual Conference meets in person, the secretary shall provide instructions on the number of paper copies of the item to be produced at the author’s expense and where to deliver them for distribution.

Items should be submitted to the conference secretary at gpsecretary@greatplainsumc.org.
A guide to formatting resolutions may be found here.
